BJP and Hindutva

I have been following the BJP quiet regularly in the media. There was a sizeable population who wanted BJP to be in power for intellect and integrity reasons. However, the rule was not destined to be in hand for next five years. Never the less BJP has emerged as a largest Opposition party and has a myriad contribution to make to influence the government policy decisions positively. BJP supporters in India and living abroad have been waiting since the results for the BJP top brass meeting and lessons thus learnt from introspection.
The media had BJP ...Read Full Blog

1BJP down but its shudnt b out
a wonderfully written piece. I believe BJP is a great oppostion force but the time they waste on creating nuisance could actually be used for a good cause. The congress mean while plays to crowd and if BJP as a strong opposition promote the goodwill of the country then congress, who is slowly eating into the country assets , ca be stopped.

2Wrong association with Hindutva etc.
BJP/RSS and its opponents both have done much harm to the word Hindutva by using the said word irresponsibly and by not correcting the common perception created by vested interest that Hindutva is associated with only BJP/RSS. Meaningles words \'Hindu rate of growth\' were coined by literate-but-uneducated media persons. Hindutva, like Hinduism, is clearly distinguishable in a marked way from all the religions and practices because it never believes in and demands conversion of a Non-Hindu person to a Hindu. One is Hindu if born of Hindu parents, and will remain a Hindu even if he/she fails to practice Hinduism. On the other hand, a Non-Hindu, even if he/she begins to practice Hinduism, will never become a Hindu. At the same time, Hinduism does not bar practice of any other religion by any person - by a Hindu or non-Hindu. Above all, Hinduism nevers competes against other religions or practices.

4Hindutva
The ideology of RSS based on Aryan supremacist theories, (which Hitler & Co borrowed to their great detriment) is very much anti-Muslim and anti-Christian (i.e. anti-Indian-Christian). Any attempt to cover that up does not reflect the truth. BJP is the political arm of RSS. RSS operates on a banyan tree principle, setting down roots under various names. India is a subcontinent with many religions, languages and cultures. Until British united India, there were many independent kingdoms in the subcontinent. So this attempt to pretend all Indians follow the same culture is missing out the reality of the situation. The attempt to unify the country based on Sanskrit is likewise false because only Brahmins used Sanskrit as a rule. The Vedas is the oldest Scripture. Upanishads, Ramayana and Mahabharata was written after the Vedas. Vedantha philosophy marks the end of Vedic age. Indianness is a nationality, that is only 62 years old. Indians should be allowed their distinct identity because that is what Indian democracy is about. No one group should be allowed to define for the rest what Hindutva or Hinduness means, and that only Hinduness defined by a particular group allows one to be a "real" Indian.

5Hindutva
What is the difference between Indian values and Hindu values? RSS and BJP should replace the word Hindutva with \\\'Bhaartiyataa\\\' or Indianness.

6Hindutva
I have struggled to understand the difference between 'Indian culture or Indian values' and 'Hindu culture or Hindutva'. If these two terms are used synonymously, then why not drop the word 'Hindutva' and use instead 'Indianness' and similarly replace the words 'Hindu' by 'Indian' or even 'Bhartiya' in all of the RSS and BJP philosophies and literature? This should eliminate ALL objection to their very existence from anybody.

I agree with you because BJP tried ot be smart and I do not hesitate to write that instead of building a clean image- it starts walking on communal road. It openly hates MUSLIMS, suuports redical groups, used RAM MANDIR as election bait and ultimately dies due to internal bleeding.
I still wish and dream if A.B.Vajpayee could be made young once again. India will always be in short of people like him in future. What a man and what a crap of a party he belongs to. I still remember Dr. Parveen Togadia distributing Trishuls, hot speaches....this whole act leads them to their hibernaion and we do not see these people much now.
Downfall of BJP gave unnecessary power to congress and now they are acting without any check. This is not democracy and this is not fare either but India has no more options left. As Mario Puzo said...Politics is a dirty business...
